The Krom Boomssloot, also written as Kromboom ditch, a canal in the Lastage (Nieuwmarkt area) in the center of Amsterdam . The canal was in 2007 elected as one of the most beautiful streets of Amsterdam.
The Kromboom ditch is about five centuries old. The canal was named after the 16th-century shipbuilder and mayor Cornelis Pietersz Tree . Both Krom Boomssloot as law Boomssloot locks were originally commissioned by Cornelis Boom widened canal were to order his shipyard on Lastage the IJ to connect.

The University of Santo Tomas is one of the oldest existing universities and holds the oldest extant university charter in the Philippines and in Asia. It was founded on April 28, 1611 by the third Archbishop of Manila, Msgr. Miguel de Benavides, O.P., together with Frs. Domingo de Nieva and Bernardo de Santa Catalina. It was originally conceived as a school to prepare young men for the priesthood. Located within Intramuros, the Walled City, it was first called Colegio de Nuestra SeƱora del Santisimo Rosario and later renamed Colegio de Santo Tomas in memory of the foremost Dominican Theologian, Saint Thomas Aquinas. it’s a Roman Catholic university run by the Order of Preachers in Manila. and is one of the world's largest Catholic universities in terms of enrollment found on one campus. UST is also the largest university in the city of Manila. As a Pontifical University in Asia, UST is the only university to have been visited by two popes three times: once by Pope Paul VI on Nov. 28, 1970, and twice by Pope John Paul II on Feb. 18, 1981 and January 13, 1995.
